Nancy Smith has been on staff since June 2013. She loves Hope College and its amazing students. She enjoys spending time with students and is honored to journey with them as they experience different relationships with roommates, professors, co-workers, family and friends. We are designed to be in relationships. God desires to have a personal relationship with each of us, and He desires to walk with us through everything. Nancy treasures the opportunity to encourage students as they process and work through different relationships, struggles and choices.

Nancy organizes Spring Break Immersion trips for Campus Ministries, which are mission outreach opportunities. She finds pleasure in training student leaders for these trips. She also has led Immersion trips for Hope College over the last 25 years, which has been a highlight of her work. She has received many blessings from each trip through the amazing people that she meets and seeing God work through individuals, churches, organizations, and Hope students.

Nancy has years of experience counseling in the Holland community. Her passion is to encourage students through their journey as they find freedom in living a wholehearted life in Jesus Christ.

Nancy enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve Smith, professor emeritus, and her three adult children, Trevor ’09, Macall ’15 and Shanley ’19. She also finds pleasure in spending time with friends, walking on the beach, learning about other cultures and traveling.
